We are delighted to announce the line up for Ceremony 5.5, the ‘mini’ version of our new music all-dayer, which will take place during Independent Venue Week on Saturday the 31st January 2026.Headlining will be the very wonderful art-rock collective MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW. Part of the same feverishly experimental DIY scene as Black County New Road, live MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW are an explosion of joyous chaos orchestrated by violinist Clio Harwood. You may have already seen them at festivals like Rockaway Beach, End of the Road and All Points East or headlining venues like the Scala and, having previously sold out Room 2 earlier this year, we are delighted to welcome them back as your Ceremony 5.5 headliners.
Providing exceptionally strong support will be ADULT DVD. Billed as Yorkshire’s answer to LCD Soundsystem, Adult DVD’s wobbling synths and crazy beats create dance-floor mayhem wherever they go. Having already performed to huge crowds at Green Man and the 6Music festival, we can’t wait to see them get everyone moving at Esquires. Altogether now - ‘Bill Murray, Bill Murray...’
Travelling all the way from Ballincollig, Ireland will be hotly tipped and anthemic / cathartic alt-rockers CLIFFORDS. Already billed by Rolling Stone as ‘a band on the cusp of greatness’ they've spent the summer wowing audiences at massive festivals like Glastonbury, Latitude and Reading / Leeds.
Also appearing will be the psychedelic funk of COMMON GOLDFISH, the wonky new-wave experimentalism of FORMAL SPPEEDWEAR, the ‘aggressive hopecore’ of sweaty rave-pop duo PUNCHBAG, the hypnotic Radiohead meets Fontaines noise of SAINT CLAIR and, fresh from supporting Public Image Limited, SPANISH HORSES will be bringing their Velvet Underground influenced grooves to the party.
Last, but not least, Manchester’s VINCENT’S LAST SUMMER will be bringing their magic telephone to Ceremony 5.5 to teleport us all back to 2008, the year of 'Indie Sleaze', Alexander Burke winning X Factor and United winning their 17th Premier League title. It will all make sense when you see their brilliantly entertaining live show…
With previous ‘mini’ editions of Ceremony featuring acts like English Teacher, Divorce and Heartworms, we are confident we are once again bringing you some of the hottest new acts out there.
With a reduced capacity compared to its sister event in the summer and possibly one or two acts still to be added to the bill, we recommend booking early.
Tickets are £27.50 in advance, available 10am Wednesday the 24th September from Seetickets and from Slide Record Shop & Esquires Bar (with no booking fees).
