Creatively wanting to go beyond the elegance of an unembellished ceramic form, simply, but perfectly glazed? Stuck in a decorative rut? Wanting to explore the world of surface design, but overwhelmed and confused by the possibilities? Afraid to draw???This eight week course will make it possible to go beyond glazing and give you the confidence to create works of art that stand out as uniquely yours. An Introduction to Surface Design provides the individual with an overview of a variety of surface decoration techniques. Over eight weeks, participants will learn the basics of:
Slip Transfer
Stencils
Resists
Hydro-abrasion
Watercolor underglazing painting
Sgraffito
Inlay
Screen and lino printing
All basic materials and tools are provided. Some ceramics experience is needed for this course. On a weekly basis, students will be notified as to what sort of preformed ceramic piece needed for the upcoming class.

Level: Ages 18 and up
