Join us for a beginner clay charm and oyster shucking workshop at Bethel Road Distillery in Templeton! You will learn the basics of working with clay using the slab construction method to create your one-of-a-kind porcelain charms and decorating your handmade charms with underglaze. Adriana Lemus from Night Owl Pottery will guide you through this intro to clay workshop, while Margot from Flying Colors Co. teaches you how to shuck and enjoy oysters! Bethel Road Distillery will provide you with the best-tasting beverages!
The $80 fee includes white porcelain clay, all materials and tools to use during the workshop, glaze and firing, instruction by an experienced ceramic artist, oyster shucking lesson, a half dozen oysters, AND a glass of wine or spirits tasting! Once your charms are created, you will leave them with the instructor, where she will take them back to her studio in San Luis Obispo to be fired, glazed clear (painted), and fired a second time. This process takes about 4-6 weeks however, we'll have them done before Christmas. When complete, your pottery will be brought back to the venue to be picked up.
Adriana Lemus was born and raised on the Central Coast and has been working with ceramics for 17 years. She studied art at UC Berkeley and has been running her own business for the past 5 years. Adriana creates functional and non-functional ceramic vessels that are made to connect with the soul. Adriana teaches private throwing lessons in her backyard studio, sells her work at local Makers Markets, online, and is currently working on commission work for restaurants, hotels, spas, and homes.
Bethel Rd Distillery and Winery focuses on small batch artisan spirits and wines in a setting that enhances the community and inspires creativity. Cheese and charcuterie plates available for purchase!
