Young Leaders in Infrastructure presents Centre Block - Insights into Heritage Restoration and Rehabilitation
Join us for an informative presentation followed by a networking reception.
The event will feature Kate Westbury, PSPC’s Heritage Lead for the Centre Block Rehabilitation Program.
The Centre Block project is Canada’s largest and most complex heritage rehabilitation project ever undertaken. The objective of the rehabilitation is to have a parliament building that will meet the needs of the 21st century and for many years to come. A big part of the project is the heritage conservation, restoration and rehabilitation. This presentation will delve into the ways we are undertaking these three different activities within the heritage fabric of the building. The heritage work to be undertaken includes, amongst other things, restoring the building’s stonework, wood, plaster, frescos, stained glass, marble and metalwork. All the heritage murals, paintings, chandeliers, flooring and windows also need to be protected during construction. Come and get a firsthand insight into what is going on at Centre Block from PSPC’s Heritage Lead for the Centre Block Rehabilitation Program.
Sponsored by Turner and Townsend. This in-person event will take place at Turner and Townsend offices located at 45 O'Connor St suite 1400. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of heritage restoration in the context of Ottawa's most iconic building.
