The Brookings Historic Preservation Commission (BHPC) will be hosting the “Central Residential Historic District Trolley Rides” on Thursday evening, August 21th, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm, in conjunction with “Downtown at Sundown” that evening. The trolley rides will start at the southeast corner of 5th Street and 5th Avenue (NW corner of the Children’s Museum), and proceed clockwise through the Central Residential Historic District. Participants will be led by horse and trolley provided by the McCrossan Boys Ranch of Sioux Falls, with narration and commentary by BHPC Commissioners. Trolley rides will run continuous with departures every 20-30 minutes. The purpose of the event is to provide a delightful and educational experience for all ages, and to inspire appreciation for Brookings’ historic structures and rich history.
