It’s a simple idea really. Two days riding bikes on quiet gravel roads or trails in Central Otago with good people.
This is a Low Faff group ride.
It’s not a race, but feel free to go as fast as you want and smash some km’s/QOMs/KOMs/PB’s whatever.
We will provide a few route options, you follow the routes, ride at your own pace, ride with friends, ride alone, meet new people, stop for lunch whatever you like.
There is a long course and short course option each day, you can choose.
The routes will start and finish in Naseby.
You can do a long one Saturday, short one Sunday whatever you like.
Long course starts at 7:30am, short course starts at 8am.
Long course will be somewhere about 160-180km, maybe a bit more.
Short course will be somewhere around 60-80km.
There’s no timing chips, no prizes, there may not even be anyone at the finish cheering you in. But that’s ok, you’ll likely find everyone at the same place getting dinner and a drink afterwards!
There will be friendly people, good riding and a pub to get dinner at the end of the day.
What do you need?
- A bike, something that you’ll enjoy riding on gravel all day.
Gravel Bike- yes
Hardtail mountain bike - yes
Road bike - could be a hit bumpy
Full suspension mountain bike - ok
Downhill bike - probably not
Single speed - of course
- Normal bike accessories, helmet, spare tube, tools (and knowledge on knowledge on how to use them) etc.
- Normal weather contingency clothes.
- Some method for following a .gpx file so you can navigate the route. There’s no marshals, signs, navigation help out there.
- Anything else you think will make a day good fun.
- Accomodation somewhere, probably best in Naseby. There’s heaps of options from camping to full house rentals.
