The annual battle for bragging rights in the Central Districts Brass Band world is about to begin. Featuring the best of brass from Taranaki down through to Manawatū, this free event has something for everyone. Saturday September 6 from 1.00pm to 4.30pm at the Speirs Centre (PNBHS) sees the purists satisfied with the 'Hymn and Test' competition. This is the music which shows off the pure sound and power of a brass band.
Sunday September 7 from 9.00am to 3.30pm at the Speirs Centre (PNBHS) is the chance for the bands to really cut loose with their 'Entertainment' programme. This is where the brass band really does shine - taking on every genre known to the music world. High energy and fun are the best ways to describe this event.
Sunday September 7 from midday to 12.45pm at the Square, Te Marae o Hine, opposite the Plaza, is a chance to see the brilliance and excitement of the march. Played at the halt, shining instrument, happy bands people and colourful uniforms all provide an atmosphere of celebration.
