🚨Lalie’s Polar Plunge – Raising money Special Olympics Central Coast , please read share and donate if you can 🚨Thank you Meet Lalie – a determined, kind-hearted 14-year-old who is proudly part of the Special Olympics Central Coast tennis team. She is one of the youngest athletes in the club, and this year, she’s taking on a bold challenge: the Polar Plunge in Newcastle on August 24th – and she’s doing it to represent our Central Coast team. She is the only one doing it for the central coast !
Lalie is diving into the icy waters not just for the thrill, but for something far greater – to support her Special Olympics family. Because that’s what we are – a family. One that welcomes, supports, and celebrates people with intellectual disabilities, giving them the opportunity to thrive through sport.
The Special Olympics Central Coast provides a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for athletes and their families. They help cover costs for training, uniforms, and events, and regularly host celebrations and community gatherings – bringing joy, confidence, and connection to so many lives.
But like any community organisation, we rely on fundraising and community support to keep going. That’s where Lalie’s Polar Plunge comes in.
By taking this plunge, Lalie hopes to raise funds to help keep our club running and raise awareness for families in our region who might not yet know there’s a place for them here. Every dollar raised through Lalie’s effort goes directly to Special Olympics Central Coast – helping athletes like her continue to compete, train, and grow.
Lalie has faced enormous challenges this year, especially with ongoing medical issues – but she’s not letting anything hold her back. She attends high school in a support unit and dreams of making the Special Olympics National Team this year and representing Australia at the World Games. Currently, she’s ranked first in her division – and this plunge is just another example of her incredible courage and spirit.
Please support Lalie on her journey. Every donation makes a difference – for her, for our club, and for future athletes who are still waiting to find their place in the Special Olympics family.
