Celebrate 100 years of conservation by contributing to the centennial project at Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve.
The Forest Preserve District of Kane County turns 100 years old, this June. To commemorate the milestone, the District is making improvements to Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve — our very first forest preserve.
We’ll construct a trail spur, install our first piece of public art (a sculpture by local artist Mike Baur, entitled Guardians), and plant an 800-tree oak grove in a newer section of the preserve, and install new prairie. We’ll also host a public birthday party on June 8 at noon, where the new improvements will be unveiled. All are invited.
The Kane Forest Preserve Foundation is soliciting funds to help defray the cost of the centennial grove and artwork, and your name can be a permanent part of this milestone celebration. By sponsoring at the Centennial Champion ($800) level or the Heritage Partner ($400 level), your name will be inscribed on a permanent bronze plaque at the site. Corporate sponsorships are also available.
Visit www.kaneforestpreservefoundation.org for more information. Centennial sponsorships must be placed
by March 1, 2025. Don’t miss your chance to contribute to this meaningful celebration and enrich the natural landscape for generations to come.
