About this Event
Welcome to Celtic Cycles!
Join us for a series of seasonal celebrations as we journey through the Celtic wheel of the year, where we'll honour nature's cycles as our ancestors did.
Through traditional crafts, seasonal activities, nature walks, song and ceremony, we'll connect deeply with the changing seasons and express gratitude for the unique gifts each one brings to our lives. The Celtic calendar marks eight sacred points throughout the year, each celebration offering its own special activities that align with the season's energy.
- Imbolc (Saturday, February 1st, 2025) welcomes the first stirrings of spring as we craft traditional St. Brigid's crosses from rushes and learn about this Celtic fire goddess of healing and poetry. Together around the fire, we'll honour the returning light.
- Spring Equinox (Saturday, March 22nd, 2025) celebrates nature's awakening. We'll venture on nature walks to identify emerging spring herbs and learn willow weaving techniques as the sap rises in these sacred trees.
- Beltane (Saturday, May 3rd, 2025) honours the full bloom of spring. We'll gather seasonal wildflowers, learn traditional May songs, and explore the medicinal properties of spring herbs through hands-on workshops.
- Summer Solstice (Saturday, June 21st, 2025) marks the height of the sun's power. We'll harvest nature's wonders and create solar-infused oils, whilst sharing stories and songs that celebrate the abundance of this special time.
- Lammas (Saturday, August 2nd, 2025) honours the first harvest. We'll gather together and share the seasonal bounty, learn some traditional preservation techniques, and share songs of gratitude for nature's abundance.
- Autumn Equinox (Saturday, September 20th, 2025) welcomes the harvest season. We'll celebrate by pressing apples together as a community, and learn songs that honour the turning of the wheel.
- Samhain (Saturday, November 1st, 2025) marks the Celtic new year. This is a time where it is said the veils are thin, so we will honour those who came before us and create scented candles and protective amulets from natural materials, to celebrate the wisdom of our ancestors.
- Winter Solstice (Saturday, December 20th, 2025) celebrates the return of the light. We'll create winter wreaths from foraged materials, together watch the setting sun and plant and intention for the next cycle to come, and share songs of hope and renewal.
Each gathering runs from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a potluck dinner and community fire where we can warm ourselves and deepen our connections through our shared experience. This is an inclusive space welcoming to all ages.
