CELT Open Day - Showcasing Traditional Crafts & Walks and Talks“Ponds, Hedgerows, Agroforestry & Woodlands - Improving Biodiversity on Your Land”
Put the date in your autumn diary and join us on 20th October for a day long series of walks and talks with a focus on improving biodiversity on your land by identifying potential Habitat enhancement, increasing Trees & Hedgerows, developing Ponds and Wetlands and lots more, with a hands on practical learning opportunity exploring the current afforestation and nature restoration partnership project for the Slieve Aughty Center, Kylebrack, led by Forester, Julius Silvan.
Over the day we will be joined by experts in the field sharing a vision for both the potential nature restoration of different areas of land and potential site enhancements: including advice from Julius Silvan - Slieve Aughty Center Site Afforestation Manager, Community Foundations Ireland funded Site Ecology Surveying, Feidhlim Harty, Ponds & Wetlands Expert, and Hedgerow Ireland. Guided walks will also be offered by CELT Tutors, local Forager, Owlyn Williams, Forest Bathing by Sky Maria Buitenhuis and Forest School with Jill Little.
Throughout the day we will also showcase the work of some of our amazing CELT Tutors and skilled crafts people from our Weekend in the Hills Festival of Traditional Crafts programme. Here you will gain insight into the delights of some of our Sustainable Living and Traditional Crafts Workshops with demonstrations from our tutors and an opportunity for you to select a craft course for either yourself or your loved ones with over 15 courses to choose from. There will also be an opportunity to invest in sustainable handmade crafts and gifts with a variety of products for sale on the day.
