Everyone is invited to join us in a day long celebration of Bob Wilson, honoring Bob’s legacy and unique contribution in establishing nationally renown environmental organisation, CELT and the CELT Weekend in the Hills Festival of Traditional Crafts. Mark your autumn calendar and join us on 24th November for a full day of guided walks and talks furthering Bob’s vision for nature restoration, and creating thriving biodiversity and sustainable communities across the island of Ireland.
The day will feature a showcase of CELT tutors, as well as a series of walks and talks that are part of a new afforestation project, led by CELT at the Slieve Aughty Center, and ending with a special tribute to Bob at 4pm.
The day-long series will explore methods for enhancing biodiversity, increasing trees and hedgerows, and for developing ponds and wetlands. This hands-on, practical learning opportunity will delve into the current afforestation and nature restoration project at the Slieve Aughty Centre, Kylebrack, devised by Forester Julius Silvan.
Throughout the day, experts will share their insights on maximizing the potential of various landscapes and site improvements. Joining us will be Julius Silvan, Afforestation Manager for the Slieve Aughty Centre project; specialists in site ecology surveying; and Feidhlim Harty, an expert in ponds, wetlands, and hedgerow management and Steve from Hedgerow Ireland
In addition, we’ll highlight the work of talented tutors and skilled artisans from our Weekend in the Hills Festival of Traditional Crafts. You’ll get a taste of our traditional crafts workshops through live demonstrations, and you’ll have the chance to choose from over 15 courses for yourself or a loved one. The day also includes an opportunity to invest in sustainable, handmade crafts and gifts, with a selection of products available for purchase.
At 4 pm, we invite everyone to gather as we pay tribute to our late co-founder and dear friend, Bob Wilson. This will be a time to honor his memory through shared poems, stories, songs, and other heartfelt contributions.
