August 1, 2020, marked Henrietta Lacks’ 100th birthday and the launch of “HELA100,” the global Centennial CELLebration led by The Lacks Family to honor the impact of her HeLa cells, which are responsible for some of the greatest scientific advancements of the last century and continue to benefit all of humanity.HELA100 Colloquium will be on October 4, 2021. This date is of great significance, not only to our family but to the world, as we commemorate 70 years since Henrietta Lacks' HeLa cells changed the world and her untimely death on October 4, 1951.
