About this Event
This introductory level lecture class will focus on three key areas of cell phone investigations: technology, acquisition and understanding of call detail records (CDRs), and analytical strategies to gain the most evidentiary value out of CDRs. Search warrants, data received by cellular service providers, and tools necessary for analysis are among the topics covered in detail. CDR mapping concepts will be introduced, but this is not a mapping “how-to” class. Case studies and exercises will be used to demonstrate concepts and reinforce understanding.
Who should attend?
This class is geared toward DETECTIVES new to writing search warrants for CDRs, ANALYSTS required to analyze CDRs and make investigative/analytical recommendations, PROSECUTORS who may present CDRs as evidence in court, and SUPERVISORS of employees who write warrants for CDRs, or conduct analysis, so they know how best to support them with training and tools.
