Celebration of Life for Leo LaRue. Growing up in poverty, Leo joined the Navy in 1981. For his entire career he sent money home to his mother from every paycheck. That alone gives us reason to celebrate this beautiful soul, but we could write a long list of his charitable donations, his willingness to open his home to strangers, his sheer joy in cooking and sharing food, his love of family, his love of dogs (especially beagles), and his ridiculous enthusiasm for life. He radiated energy. Leo served for 24 years in the Navy, and then used his expertise of submarines while working for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Leo is survived by his partner (me) of 29 years, his daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters, and a large extended family.
So let’s get together and honor him with laughter and stories and photos.
Elation is a great space for this event, with a wonderful variety of beers and food available for purchase. (Leo loved the pizza and I love the nachos.) Parking is available at the CEO parking lot.
