A musical and video celebration of life for Barry Ramus, talented bass player and vocalist, will be held at the Hygienic Art Park, 79 Bank Street, New London, CT, on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2025, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.Our family, friends, and former bandmates, will gather and celebrate his life and legacy. Join us in the New London Cultural District, where Barry lived, worked, and played professionally since the 1960's, where he retired, and the last place that Barry played in!
Barry was in several local bands Mad Dash, Melaena, High Times, Cruise, Cry Wolf, Night Owl Jazz Band and more.
Fellow bandmates and musicians Steve Belgrade, Bob Straub, Rick Singer, Joe Grieco, Tony Brennan, Bert Coburn, Mike Sullivan, Dominic Caputo, Ron Lewis, Bill Light, Bernard Santore, Hilary Carboni, Rich Kornacki, Charles Hedding, Andre Danford, Roy Dunn MacLean, Mike Derry, Braiden Sunshine, and others, will perform on the Hygienic Art Park stage in remembrance of Barry.
A photographic and film compilation will be presented on the big screen. As a professional musician who toured, recorded, and performed with Chuck Berry, Papa John Creach, Leon Thomas, Jimmy Dawkins, Johnny Johnson, Tom Russell Band, Neal Black, and the Chambers Brothers in the U.S., Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland; Barry created a great collection of interesting images.
A memorial display of Barry's partners personal items from his life as a creative, including his photo journalism, fine art, illustration, and blacksmithing at Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT will be exhibited in the Art Park.
Barry enjoyed every moment of the full and good life he lived, he felt fortunate to call so many friend. The love, beauty, and music he shared with us is a treasure that nothing can take away, his spirit lives on through the memories left behind; come and make memories with us as we make sure Barry gets the proper send off!
Please sign our guest book and share a written memory in it's ample pages, or print a memory or story out and bring it with you to share, it will be a treasured gift in the days to come. Please, bring copies of photos to share too, they will go into an online album that will be shared! Barry's bandmates are preparing some personal words of remembrance to share from the stage.
The Hygienic Art cash bar will be available, and a selection of slices, bites, crudités and charcuterie by Angies Pizza & Pier 27 Lounge, Filomena's, La Luna, along with hors d'oeuvres, appetizers, and canapé contributions from loving friends, will be offered.
