The Johnson County Historical Society is excited to once again host our annual Celebration of History fundraiser sponsored by Eldon C. Stutsman, Inc!Cost: JCHS Member $45, Non-Member $50, Sponsored Table $300*
The Johnson County Historical Society's Celebration of History is an all-inclusive community event showcasing excellence in historical preservation and interpretation in 2024. This year's event includes a presentation, "Our Rich Transportation History-Johnson County," by Marty Boller of the local history blog and website, Our Iowa Heritage (https://ouriowaheritage.com/,) focusing on the history of transportation in our community and the current happenings with the proposal of possible use of the CRANDIC railway between North Liberty and Iowa City, and the potential landmark designation of the Iowa City Airport.
Join us for a silent auction, update on happenings at the Historical Society, and refreshments. This event fosters the opportunity for community members to get together to evoke feelings of nostalgia, reminisce about the days of old, and look toward the future of preserving our history
The Irving B. Weber Award is conferred by the Johnson County Historical Society in recognition of their distinguished contribution to the research, writing, or preservation of Johnson County history.
All proceeds go toward the Johnson County Historical Society's mission of serving the public by furthering an appreciation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Johnson County community through education, preservation, and interpretation.
*A sponsored table includes 8 tickets to the event. Upon purchasing this option the JCHS will reach out to confirm purchase and request for logo or table recognition.
