This program highlights the work of those women that prepared the way as innovators and pioneers like Nadia Boulanger, teacher of great composers like Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. Another emblematic figure featured in this program is Florence Beatrice Price (1887-1953), an African American Composer whose work was forgotten and has now been brought to life, and we are discovering her work and was an orchestra director already in the 1930’s.
Additional artists featured in this performance are: Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich and Josephine Baker. Their artistry, struggles and achievements are inspiring for all new generations and should never be forgotten.
