About this Event
To celebrate Women’s History Month, we’ll explore works by women artists on view at The J. Paul Getty Museum and the Research Institute at the Getty Center. Art by women artists is an aspect of the museum’s collection – primarily European art with works primarily by men – that has been growing over the years. A stunning 17th-century Spanish sculpture (has been in the collection for decades) and newly acquired paintings in oil and pastel are featured in the tour while unexpected photographs by women artists are tucked into the galleries displaying art from the Renaissance to the 19th century. Our exploration concludes in the exhibition Barbara T. Smith: The Way to Be on view at the Getty Research Institute. We hope you can join the celebration!
