Five Melbourne choirs come together to sing songs by Victor Jara. The famed Chilean poet and singer was murdered in the country's military coup, on 16 September 1973.
51 years after Victor's death, performers around Australia will celebrate his work and legacy in a series of events.
In Melbourne, five choirs will perform:
* Brunswick Rogues, led by Emily Hayes, accompanied on charango by Abe Dunovich;
* Beyond the Bathroom Choir, led by Loz Irwin-Ray, with soloist Pia Nesvara and guitarist Nick Vargas;
* Monday Night Singers, led by Tanya Heine;
* Victorian Trade Union Choir, led by Michael Roper, with soloist Marisol Salinas;
* Canto Coro Reunion Choir, led by Jeannie Marsh.
Pilar Aguilera will join us as MC.
We are delighted to be joined by popular Andean band, Inka Marka.
