The Literary Lineage of Kalamu ya Salaam will celebrate Salaam's literary vision and dedication to Runagate Press, NOMMO Literary Society and more. In this limited time and space, writers and communities who bear the fruit of Salaam's teaching and activism will share poetry, tributes and more. Curated by Kelly Harris-DeBerry.For One Book One New Orleans, this event is long overdue. In 2020, when New Orleans Griot: The Tom Dent Reader , edited by Kalamu ya Salaam, was the focus of our citywide reading and literacy outreach, COVID-19 had us on lockdown. The virtual events for the book selection did not provide the opportunity to gather and collectively appreciate Salaam's work. We are so excited to finally dedicate time and space to this celebration.
F ree and open to the public; donations gratefully accepted.
