Join us to celebrate the imaginations of the young writers who contributed to the creation of the new exhibition "Unknown Sitters." Drawn from the holdings of the Historic New Orleans Collection, the exhibit asks viewers to imagine an identity for the subjects of the 26 portraits on view—subjects who are otherwise unidentified in the historical record. HNOC’s annual Student Writing Contest did the same, and the winners’ work is displayed with the portraits. The winning writers, their guardians, and their teachers have been invited to the reception. Join them at this free, family event and tell us who the "Unknown Sitters" are. In addition to the portraits, the exhibition features several engaging activities exploring the practice of portraiture from the perspectives of both artist and subject.
Soft drinks and snacks will be served. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
