In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Prince's legendary "Purple Rain," we're ecstatic to present a special Selector Saturdays event featuring DJ Jack Riedy. Join us as we pay homage to this timeless and iconic album. #PurpleRain40
Jack Riedy is a writer and musician known for covering Chicago music and classic rock, funk, and hip-hop. He has been a fan of Prince since he first heard the opening bars of “Let’s Go Crazy” on the radio. His first book, Electric Word Life: Writing on Prince 2016 - 2021, was independently released through Cereal Box Studio with art by his partner Mary Gring and sold out its first print run.
He will be spinning a mix of Prince songs, funk forefathers, and other purple people in honor of the 40th anniversary of Purple Rain.
Selector Saturdays is a free live vinyl-set series hosted at Miyagi Records. Every Saturday, a deejay comes into the Shop and spins whatever they’d like. Dealer’s Choice - all-wax, any genre, all formats!
