Dr Rob Knee presents the remarkable life of England’s greatest lawyer - Sir Edward Coke, the Norfolk man who defied two Kings. Coke attended the Norwich school from 1560-1567. He married a member of the Paston family and also purchased the Music House in King Street from them. Coke’s descendants established the Coke family at Holkham.
Coke was a great champion of the peoples’ rights and his writings have had a great influence in both this country and in America, in particular, his judgement ‘that no man (King or Government) is above the law’.
