A celebration of the recent restoration of Meredith Hall with a social hour, docent stations and an exclusive documentary film screening.Presented by the Iowa Architectural Foundation and the Drake University School of Journalism and Mass Communication, this special event will celebrate and benefit the restoration of this iconic 1965 building designed by Mies van der Rohe. Midmod attire optional but encouraged!
Event Highlights:
- Social Hour & Docent Stations: Starting at 7:00PM, enjoy a complimentary wine or beer as you explore the meticulously restored spaces of Meredith Hall.
- Knoll Furniture Display : Pose for a selfie at the modern furniture display, sponsored by Pigott and specially curated as an homage to the building's original 1966 Knoll furnishings.
- Exhibit: View a special digital exhibit showcasing original blueprints, photographs, and artifacts related to Meredith Hall and its architectural significance.
- BNIM Architects Q&A : Learn about the intricate 2022-2023 revitalization project, which included infrastructure updates, new sustainable features, and enriched learning opportunities that remained true to the original vision of famed architect Mies van der Rohe.
- Special Access to Scott Chapel : Take a short excursion to view the beautiful Oreon E. Scott Chapel, a rare gem of modernism designed by Eero Saarinen and dedicated in 1955.
- Documentary Screening: Starting at 8:00PM, grab your popcorn and settle in to view an exclusive screening of the 2023 documentary film The Mies van der Rohes , offering a deeper understanding of his life and work as remembered by his eldest daughter.
