Resonance Ensemble conducted by Tony Ryan celebrates Matariki on 30 June with orchestral music by a ‘cluster’ of New Zealand composers ranging from Douglas Lilburn’s iconic 1940 Aotearoa Overture, to music written as recently as 2020. Other music on the programme is by Philip Norman, Pieta Hextall, Patrick Shepherd, Maria Grenfell, Tony Ryan and Chris Adams; and the orchestra is joined by soloists Mark Hobson on Saxophone, and soprano Helen Charlton in another uniquely imaginative and innovative Resonance Ensemble programme.
