Celebrating Ancestors and Loved Ones Passed: Firewalk and Sound Journey with Cacao

Whether you observe Samhain (saa-win), Dia de Los Muertos, All Saints Day, or any other holiday around October 31 through November 2, you are probably celebrating those who have passed. The celebration of the dead is a global tradition in all cultures. At this time, when the veil between the seen and unseen is at its thinnest, we gather to honor our ancestors and step into the liminal space between worlds.
These holidays are centered around food and altar space. We will gather to share food and stories of loved ones passed. Please bring something yummy to share, a simple finger food, maybe something that represents your loved one, or a favorite family dish or simply something that feels like the fall/harvest season (if your nana’s fav candy was twizzlers, bring em!) Please bring something seasonal, sacred, or honoring your loved one, to add to our ancestral altar (a picture or gift). If you feel called, we will create a space to share who they were to you and why you’d like to honor them. There is no limit to the number of souls you can honor on this day. The greatest way we can honor the legacy of our lineage is to live a good life and walk an honorable path for ourselves.

Our ceremony begins with a celebration of our ancestors and loved ones who have passed. We will share stories, sit with cacao, and make music together as we dance and raise our energy. We then move to the sacred fire walk—an ancient rite practiced in many cultures as a path of purification, courage, and renewal. On this day, we are walking for those who are no longer with us. The fire itself becomes a living ancestor—its flames communicating the wisdom of transformation, its heat reminding us of the life force that sustained our lineage. Walking across the fire is an act of remembrance: of the trials survived, of the strength inherited, and of the sacred bond that connects us to our bloodline and to all who came before. As we approach the glowing embers, we are invited to meet the threshold between fear and faith, between surrender and trust. Each step across the fire is not merely physical but symbolic: a release of burdens carried, a declaration of resilience, and an honoring of those who walked before us.
Following this passage, we enter the sanctuary of sound. Using crystal singing bowls, gongs, drums, and other sacred instruments to open a field of resonance that allows the body, mind, and spirit to deeply integrate the medicine of the firewalk. The frequencies of sound work directly with the nervous system, guiding it from heightened activation into profound states of relaxation and receptivity. Where the fire awakens, sound soothes. Where the fire burns away, sound restores. Together, they create a bridge between the physical act of courage and the spiritual embodiment of wisdom. In this vibrational landscape, participants are supported in releasing residual fear or resistance, grounding the insights of the firewalk, and opening to ancestral guidance with clarity and peace.
To complete the ceremony, we will gather in sacred circle. In this shared space of presence and reflection, participants are invited to speak from the heart, share the wisdom revealed, or simply sit in the warmth of community and share food. The circle allows each person’s experience to be witnessed and honored, deepening the integration of the night’s journey. Here, the threads of fire, sound, and spirit are woven together in community, anchoring the blessings of this day for the path ahead.
