Motown is the most fantastic danceable and fabulous music and it started out 66 years ago in Detroit. Hear it at it's best on original vinyl - tunes you know and love and possibly a few that you might have missed along the way. The Funk Brothers are the house band at Motown, Smokey Robinson went from The Miracles to the Executive suite, Martha Reeves left and joined other labels, Diana Ross wasn't originally a lead vocalist of The Supremes and Isley Brothers went from 4 to 14. One Motown record is now valued at over 100,000 pounds for a humble 45 rpm, others are now fetching 100s or even thousands of pounds. You can still buy an original Baby Love for ten quid. Tamla Motown, as a record label title, was thought up by an Englishman. Motown is now owned by Universal music.
