We are celebrating Dia de Los Muertos at the Augusta Museum of History this October 31st-November 3rd. This beautiful Mexican holiday dates back thousands of years and traditionally takes place on November 1st & 2nd.During this celebrated time, families come together to honor their past relatives by creating ofrendas or altars, that are adorned with food, drinks, flowers, vibrant décor, personal items of relatives, photos and more.
The Asociación Hispano Américano del CSRA will be here to set up a community ofrenda in our museum rotunda that will be free to view October 31st-November 3rd. If you would like to bring in a photograph of a loved one to be included in our community ofrenda please do so during those days. (Photographs do not need to be framed, but please put your name, phone number and email address on the back if you want the photo back.)
On Saturday, November 2nd we will share a fun-filled day at the museum celebrating Dia de los Muertos. There will be crafts and fun for kids in the activity center with the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System, a free film about Dia de Los Muertos showing in the Museum Theater and so much more!
Keep an eye on this page for all the details and make plans to join us for Dia de Los Muertos at the AMH this fall.
