About this Event
Bi+ people make up a majority of the LGBTQIA+ community, yet are often overlooked in policy, funding, health systems, communications, messaging, data collection, and more.
As we close Bisexual Awareness Week 2023 (September 16-23) on Celebrate Bisexuality Day, we invite you to join us for a day of community and advocacy spearheaded by BiPlus Organizing US at the HRC's Equality Forum in Washington DC.
The event will include speakers, presentations, discussions, and more from representatives from BiPlus Organizing US and other nationwide LGBTQIA+ organizations. The event will be followed by a casual reception.
Check out bivisibilityday.com to learn about the history of Celebrate Bisexuality Day, which has been observed annually on September 23rd since 1999 making this year the 25th anniversary.
Program (subject to modification):
10a - 11am Networking
11a - 5p Programming with Lunch
5p - 6p Reception
Intended audience: The event is open to members of BiPlus Organizing US, the Bi+ community, and all LGBTQIA+ organization members, and anyone interested in helping to advance equity for the Bi+ community. Reserving a ticket is strongly recommended via the Eventbrite link as spaces are limited (tickets are only necessary for physical attendance at the event in Washington DC).
About the term Bi+: We acknowledge that there is no single identity label that comfortably fits everyone in our community. People who can experience attraction to multiple genders make up the majority of the LGBTQIA+ community and we are a diverse population in many ways, including our intersectional experiences of oppression and privilege.
About the organizer: BiPlus Organizing US is a coalition of organizations and individuals invested in a brighter future for all people who experience attraction to multiple genders — whether they identify as bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, another label, or no label at all.
Accessibility: Please note that the venue is wheelchair accessible and ASL interpretation will be provided. While the event will not be livestreamed, recordings will be made available after the event.
Speakers & Updates: Please follow this invite and our social media on Instagram (@BiPlusOrgUs) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Biplusorganizingus/) as we announce speakers, sponsors and more details of the program.
