More about our graduates

Mobius Farms Co-founders Jeannine and Chris Malcolm

Mobius Farms is turning food waste into value. Using insect bioconversion technologies, the Barossa Valley company collects food waste from South Australian cafes and restaurants to feed its collection of black soldier fly larvae! The larvae is then turned into insect protein-based products suitable for the pet, aquaculture, and livestock markets. Each kilogram of larvae consumes up to four kilograms of food and other organic waste in a period of days. Using less land, water and energy than traditional composting, insect bioconversion is a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the growing problem of organic waste and food waste. Insect protein is also an emerging product expected to disrupt the multi-billion dollar pet food industry in Australia and beyond.

Growing with Gratitude Founder Ash Manuel

Growing with Gratitude was formed in 2014 after its founder identified a glaring gap in children's education: several schools across Australia were looking to implement a wellbeing program but were unequipped to launch such a project. Ash Manuel, with a background in teaching and positive psychology, knew that, just like learning and practicing skills for sport or music, people can learn to be a more resilient. These emotional skills can come through practicing positive mental schemas. Growing with Gratitude is now an educational service designed to build and protect the mental wellbeing of school children. It offers school visits, lesson plans and online resources.

STAK Founder Emily Bettison

STAKS’ mission is to inspire and support music makers on their creative journeys; equipping them with unique vocal and musical samples to create their own art. Millions of electronic music producers around the world rely on vocal samples to make songs with impact and emotion. Unfortunately, the music industry lacks these vital sound samples and, of those that do exist, many are not of high quality, nor can they be easily altered to fit the creator's vision. Samples are also typically described as “cheesy, dated, over-processed" by users. STAK is addressing this issue head-on by producing high-quality, naturally processed sound samples that help expand creative possibilities.
