“Stephen’s complex bass work suggests a far more mature talent”- David Witter, 2022.
Mentorship, lineage, and community lie at the heart of Buddy!, the vibrant debut album from bassist and composer Stephen Parisi Jr. Rooted in his upbringing in Buffalo and shaped by his evolution within Chicago’s thriving jazz community, Parisi’s music reflects a young artist deeply committed to understanding and extending the traditions that formed him. To bring Buddy to life, Parisi assembled a band of standout young talents from Chicago and Buffalo, Achiron on guitar, Nicholas Olynciw on piano, Kabir Dalawari on drums, and Jordan Lerner on saxophone. Guiding the project is Buffalo piano legend George Caldwell, whose steady mentorship and production shaped the album’s warmth, cohesion, and sense of lineage.
Stephen Parisi Jr is an award winning Bass player and Composer originally from Buffalo, New York now based in Chicago. Stephen is recognized with the Schirmer Prize of excellence, Buffalo’s 2024 Ex-Pat Jazz Artist of the year and a member of the prestigious JAS Academy, a program that recognizes the top young jazz musicians in the country. Stephen has played with an illustrious list of well-known figures in jazz, including Dave Koz, Ben Paterson, George Calldwell, Bobby Millitello, Michael Allemana, Victor Garcia, Tommy Gearheart, Bobby Jones, Gordon Webster, and Bob Sneider, Stephen also maintains an active touring schedule with The Bryan Eng Trio and The Glenn Miller Orchestra.
