CCRN/PCCN Certification Review Course

Cammy is an internationally known speaker with over 45 years of Critical Care experience. She has taught the CCRN/PCCN and CMC/CSC Reviews for many years with outstanding reviews from attendees due to her humorous, thought-provoking teaching style and useful clinical pearls for bedside care. She is a reviewer for several referred nursing journals and has numerous critical care publications.

CCRN and PCCN are certifications for nurses who provide direct care to acutely ill adult patients.

COURSE PROSPECTUS: This two-day combined course is designed to provide critical care and progressive care nurses a review of AACN’s core curriculum. The course combines central knowledge based lectures so that nurses working in the PCU and ICU arena will have a review of AACN’s Certification Blueprint. The review will provide the critical care provider with an essential review of nursing care and interventions designed for the ICU and Progress Care setting. Information essential to each will be presented in a combined method still complying with AACN’s certification blueprint. This review is not an introduction to the environment of the ICU or PCU, but a comprehensive update for the professional already in practice at the bedside and is preparing for the Certification Examinations.

OBJECTIVES: At the completion of this lecture, the participant will be able to:

1. Discuss and practice test-taking skills.

2. Review critical anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of each system: cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, hematology, neurology, renal, and endocrine.

3. Discuss significant assessment and diagnostic findings relevant to the critical and progressive care environment.

4. Discuss clinical presentation as well as specific patient management of commonly seen critical care conditions
