TEACHER PROFILE

I have a degree in Fine Art, completing 5 years of full-time study at The National Art School, Sydney in 1978. This is where I met and fell in love with clay! I also attended the Ivan Englund Pottery School workshop in Sydney at that time.

I am a current CCPS member. I have my own kiln and have experience in successfully glazing, packing and firing ceramic pieces.

I have a strong community spirit and aim to provide all students with the opportunity to increase their ceramic knowledge, experience and skills, in a safe, cooperative, respectful and caring learning environment.

COURSE OUTLINE

In this class, you will learn the fundamental techniques of throwing clay on a wheel, by wedging, centring, opening out, pulling up and forming a basic cylinder. You will also learn how to turn or finish the base of a leather hard pot.

Opportunities to decorate, underglaze, slip trail and apply glazes to your bisque fired work will also be given.
