Lesson 4: Microaggressions/ Code-switching
Free to attend and participate
In 2024 we’ve expanded our monthly gathering to include new and previous attendees in an engaging format.
There are SEVEN monthly gatherings, it is highly encouraged if you are attending for the first time to attend all gatherings, as the curriculum being taught is progressive, meaning you will learn more when participating in a specific order
The gathering will start at 6pm, with a shared buffet-style meal, followed by an introduction.
From there, we will split into two groups, one of alumni and those who are going through the lesson curriculum.
The alumni will be discussing their monthly actions and additional learning while the curriculum group will be going through their lessons.
After, the two groups will converge for additional conversations together before finally adjourning for the evening.
As always, these gatherings are free and open to everyone.

This curriculum was adapted from our original Courageous Conversations held 2019-2020 among the three founding groups, StarkFresh, Mt. Olive Baptist Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. It has been field-tested and is designed to take place in a social gathering where food is provided as a common currency to make people feel welcome. A warning of sorts, proper use of the curriculum will create situations of extreme emotion from participants as it creates a safe format for one to look inward and assess their own beliefs. This curriculum has been known to create strong, personal bonds with other participants and propel you on a journey of soul and information-seeking opportunities
