Whether you’re growing tomatoes for the first time or looking to improve your harvest, this Tomato Workshop offers practical, research-based guidance for successfully growing tomatoes in Collin County and across North Texas.
The program includes educational presentations led by local gardening experts, along with interactive demonstration tables hosted by Collin County Master Gardeners. Attendees will have opportunities throughout the workshop to observe demonstrations, review displays, and ask questions.
What You’ll Learn
- Tomato varieties suited for North Texas conditions
- Determinate vs. indeterminate tomatoes and how growth habits affect care
- Common tomato diseases and blight, and how to reduce problems in the garden
- Seed basics, including saving and storing seed and understanding seed preparation
- Gardening fundamentals presented through educational tables and displays, such as:
Earth-Kind® gardening practices, Irrigation basics, Healthy soil and compost, Understanding seed preparation, Pollinators and the benefits of bees.
