The 2025 CCEDA Funding Conference focuses on increasing equity, and access to resources, in low-income communities and communities of color. The theme, Funding an Equitable California, encourages attendees to consider how financial institutions can support CED organizations to accomplish this urgent goal. CDCs, CDFIs, CAAs, and faith-based institutions have served as effective tools to address the needs of low-income communities.
Many of the smaller CDCs, CDFIs, and CAAs led by people of color are particularly well-positioned to provide culturally competent and effective services and programs to low-income communities of color. However, these organizations require the support of banks, foundations, and funders to set California on a path to leading the nation in creating an equitable landscape for low-income communities of color, and increasing access to much needed resources such as affordable housing, renewable technology, small business assistance, etc.
As the state pushes forward in addressing climate change, the housing crisis, transportation expansion, etc., it is vital that these efforts prioritize the communities most affected by these issues; low-income communities of color. We cannot afford to allow these communities to be left behind, as they have been in the past. It is up to community-based organizations, funders, and financial institutions to work together and assure that low-income communities of color are prioritized and well-resourced.
The 2025 CCEDA Funding Conference provides the space to do that work, strengthen networks, harness funding opportunities, and cohere an equitable vision for a new California.
