Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr. is a joyful, engaging—and educational!—musical, filled with songs you’ve loved for years. The show is for performers ages 6-13, and no previous theatre experience is required. Performances are scheduled for March 7 through 22.Auditions take place at the Seventh Street Theatre on January 4 between 9am and 2pm, with invited callbacks on January 5 at 9:00am. On the form, you will be asked to note your audition time preferences. We will do our best to comply with one of your choices. Your appointment confirmation will be emailed to you as well as the necessary forms to complete and bring to the audition. Please note that an audition does not guarantee casting.
Your audition will include cold readings and character work as well as performing up to one minute of a musical theatre song, which you will select and prepare ahead of time. Please bring a backing track on a phone or iPad, or you may sing a capella. You do not have to be a fluent reader to audition. (Callbacks will also include dance.)
Roles for the show include six leads (Tom—a teacher—and five kids who are parts of Tom’s psyche) and a robust ensemble of kids of all ages. The show is a light-hearted and fun.
The directors of Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr. are The Show Must Ghost On directors, Marlee Lane and Dona Rice, with lead musical director Caleb Robertson and lead choreographer Allison Sano.
