The 2024 California Community College Student Affairs Association (CCCSAA) Professional Development Conference will be held June 12 through 14 at the luxurious The Biltmore Los Angeles hotel. Individuals serving or desiring to serve in roles as student advisors, conduct administrators, social justice change agents, basic needs coordinators, and student affairs practitioners are encouraged to attend this three-day conference. The conference will focus on key areas such as Student Success, Guided Pathways, Basic Needs, Mental Health, Health Services, Student Conduct, upcoming legislation, and more, highlighting the latest initiatives and strategies being implemented to support students across the California Community College system. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the panelists through a Q&A session, where they can ask questions and share insights on how to further enhance support for community college students.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Jasmin Brett Stringer, author, speaker, and career coach known for her work in empowering individuals to pursue their passions and achieve their career goals. She is the author of the book "Seize Your Life: How to Carpe Diem Every Day," which offers insights and strategies for living a more fulfilling and purpose-driven life. The closing speaker this year will be the honorable Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., California Secretary of State. Weber is California’s first Black Secretary of State and only the fifth African American to serve as a state constitutional officer in California’s 173-year history. Weber’s genuine passion and tireless quest for equality and fairness in all sectors of life have resulted in her pursuit of reforms in education and criminal justice.
Through immersive discussions and workshops, attendees will explore a theoretical framework essential for navigating the multifaceted realm of social justice issues, emerging as adept advocates for equity and inclusion on their campuses.
CCCSAA is closely aligned with our strategic goal to expand student access and success. The Collaborative Impact Program incubates, scales, and sustains creative endeavors to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for all Californians.
