Volunteers needed! This is a fun and engaging project where you, other volunteers and CCA Staff will collect free floating mangrove propagules that will soon be planted at the Duke Energy Mariculture Center to be grown into new mangroves and later planted along Florida's shorelines to help restore our declining ecosystem. Mangroves act as a natural filtration system to help clean water and provide critical habitat for many marine species. During your propagule collection, please pick/scoop up any trash you see along the way as we are collaborating with the CCA Fred Crabill Youth Scholarship winner Katelyn Rosado in her efforts to "clean the waterways" of Broward County. So if you or someone you know has a boat and would like to "hop on board" and be a part of this awesome project on Saturday, September 28th, register today and make a difference! Just wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for the outdoors that you don't mind getting a little dirty. In order to participate, all volunteers must fill out a short waiver. CCA will be providing pizza, water and prizes when you return to the boat ramp. Remember to stay hydrated. Hope to see you there!
