For our 4th Crowdsourced Conversations forum of 2024, we will be focused on Severance Town Center -- we hope you can join us November 12th!
About this Event

Crowdsourced Conversations: A Forum Series For the People, By the People!

Please join us for our fourth forum of 2024 on Tuesday, November 12th at the Heights High School (13263 Cedar Road) where we will be discussing the community-selected topic Severance Town Center. There will be brief opening remarks by Ryan Porter (MPact Collective) before we turn the discussion over to you, our forum participants, for the rest of the evening.

As you hopefully know by now, the City of Cleveland Heights has partnered with Master Developer MPact Collective to work on a plan to redevelop Severance. We were able to collaborate both with the City and MPact Collective to carry out this Crowdsourced Conversations forum and so look forward to a productive evening of community dialogue!

These forums are in-person only.

What to expect at a Crowdsourced Conversations forum:

Come ready to meet some new people as well as connect with neighbors and friends. All are welcome!

Each event begins with one or two speakers who will share brief comments regarding our topic of the evening. Then we turn it all over to you, our forum participants. For approximately one hour, you will be part of a small group discussion where you will have both a facilitator and notetaker to help guide and record your group's thoughts on the topic. The small group questions are created using data that forum planners have collected during a Heights-wide month-long survey to ensure that the conversations are meaningful. Before we part ways for the evening, each small group will have the opportunity to share some discussion highlights, spotlighting action steps they have identified. Then after the forum concludes, you will have the opportunity to stay connected to everyone you met in your small group -- AND be reconnected with those small group members when you come to the next Crowdsourced Conversations forum.

About Crowdsourced Conversations

Crowdsourced Converastions was created with the Heights community in mind! We know how engaged and active area residents are -- this forum series aims to provide you with a deeper sense of community as well as inspire some actionable ways you can become more involved with each topic.

Each Crowdsourced Conversations forum goes through the same process:

  • First: A community-wide survey on a specified topic.
  • Second: The data collected is turned into a report and also used to help create small group discussion questions for the forum.
  • Third: We host a forum where residents can gather to determine action steps (small, medium, or large) that they can take to feel meaningfully engaged in this topic they care about.
  • Fourth: After the event is over, FutureHeights generates a resource page and event attendees are given the opportunity to stay connected to their groups and continue the conversation.

Then the cycle begins again for the next topic!

In 2024, our schedule was:

  1. Active Transportation Planning: Living Less Car-Centric in the Heights (Survey in March; Forum in April)
  2. Turning the Noble Neighborhood & Business District Into a Destination (Survey in May; Forum in June)
  3. Our Public Parks (Survey in July; Forum in August)
  4. Looking at Severance Town Center as a Case Study: How Can Heights Residents Become Meaningfully Involved (Survey in September; Forum in October)

WE BELIEVE “EVERYDAY RESIDENTS” HOLD IMMENSE POTENTIAL TO GENERATE CHANGE IN THEIR COMMUNITY!

THANK YOU!

The 2024 forum series is being planned in partnership with FutureHeights Community & Civic Engagement Committee, Heights Libraries, Home Repair Resource Center, Cleveland Heights Green Team, Heights Bicycle Coalition, City of Cleveland Heights Racial Justice Task Force, representatives of Cleveland Heights City Council, and more. Thank you for the joy, wisdom, and enthusiasm you bring to the table!

We would like to offer additional thanks to MPact Collective and the City of Cleveland Heights for their collaboration on the Severance Town Center topic.
