This new training series provides practical, research-based practices essential for effectively supporting our emergent bilingual (EB) students. Participants will gain a deep understanding of Content-Based Language Instruction (CBLI) and its application across the various content areas of science, math, or social studies. The training will highlight key components of the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) Content-Based Language Instruction guidebook.
Participants will leave their selected content-area workshop equipped to:
Understand Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and its practical application in the classroom.
Address the diverse needs of EBs, including newcomers, long-term EBs, dual-identified EBs served in special education, and gifted & talented EBs.
Utilize the principles of Culturally and Linguistically Sustaining Practices (CLSP) to create supportive systems that address the affective and linguistic needs of EBs.
