CB1 open mic is back on Sunday 7th September at the Town and Gown Pub & Theatre - Cambridge. As with all of our open mics, it will cost £2 Entry on the door. There will be plenty of slots so you can sign up on the night if you would like to read! Bring a poem or just come to listen to some fantastic poets from around Cambridge. Can’t wait to see you there at 18:30!This month we're welcoming along the wonderful Bridget Somekh!
As an English teacher, Bridget Somekh served on the Children’s Committee for the Cambridge Poetry Festival in 1985. She moved into Educational Research and was a Professor at Manchester Met University until 2008. In 2019 she published a sequence of poems on John Clare in Love’s Cold Returning (with Ellis Hall); and in 2020 three poems with Hybrid Press. Her new collection, Objects of Desire, 2025, reinvents the memoir, weaving poetry, images, and reflection into a meditation on life, love, and loss. Many of her poems have had their first public performance at CB1 Poetry’s Open Mic!
