Hannah “Kitten Lady” Shaw and professional cat photographer Andrew Marttila journey to thirty countries to bring you hundreds of photos and stories of cats from every corner of the world.
Wife and husband team Hannah Shaw and Andrew Marttila have made cats their lives' work: they rescue and rehabilitate neonatal kittens, educate the public on cat and kitten care, and capture our feline friends' unique personalities through writing and photography.
Now, in the project of their dreams, they've taken their passion for cats global. In Cats of the World, Shaw and Marttila travel across thirty countries to explore feline welfare and cat culture around the globe, documenting their travels with stunning photos and stories from each location.
Journey to England's charming pubs and candle-lit cathedrals, Chile’s vibrant produce markets and colorful hillsides, Türkiye’s spice bazaars and ancient ruins, South Africa's bustling streets and lush mountains, and so many places in between with Shaw and Marttila as they learn from cats—and the people who love them most—that compassion is truly a universal language.
About the Author
Hannah Shaw, also known as Kitten Lady, is an award-winning kitten rescuer, humane educator, and unwavering animal advocate who has dedicated her life to innovating kitten care and protecting the most vulnerable felines. She is the New York Times bestselling author of Tiny But Mighty, Kitten Lady’s Big Book of Little Kittens, Kitten Lady’s CATivity Book, and the Adventures in Fosterland series. She is also the founder of Orphan Kitten Club, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization saving the lives of neonatal kittens throughout the nation. She lives in California with her husband, Andrew Marttila, their cats, and an endless rotation of foster kittens.
Andrew Marttila is a professional animal photographer specializing in cats. Over the years he’s taken millions of photos of our feline overlords, which have been used in worldwide media in both digital and print—from the cover of National Geographic to Good Morning America. He is the creator of several books including Shop Cats of New York, Cats on Catnip, and How to Take Awesome Photos of Cats. He is also a board member of Orphan Kitten Club, and has hand-raised hundreds of rescued kittens along with his wife, Hannah Shaw.

Tricia Helfer is a Canadian covergirl model-turned-actress with a storied career and natural screen presence. Tricia currently just wrapped independent features PRIMITIVE WAR, playing a Russian scientist during the Vietnam War, and HELLO BEAUTIFUL, playing the lead role - a true story of a woman fighting breast cancer, based off the best selling book “Walk Beside Me.”
Recently Tricia starred in the Starz series STEP UP as the District Attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, alongside Neyo and Enrique Murciano. She also had the final season of the Syfy/Netflix series VAN HELSING air, playing none other than the iconic vampire of legend, Dracula.
She can be seen in the Lionsgate feature BOMBSHELL with Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and Margot Robbie. Prior to VAN HELSING, Tricia starred in Netflix’s LUCIFER, switching gears from the role as Lucifer’s mother Charlotte to an attorney by the same name in the third season. Perhaps best known for her Leo award-winning role as the humanoid Cylon ‘Number Six’ in the critically acclaimed Syfy show BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, Tricia has also had leading roles in Syfy’s ASCENSION, ABC’s KILLER WOMEN, Jerry Bruckheimer's DARK BLUE, and a variety of terrific roles in hit series such as BURN NOTICE, TWO AND A HALF MEN, CHUCK, LIE TO ME, SUITS, KEY AND PEELE, COMMUNITY, FRANKLIN & BASH, and countless others.
Adding to her impressive resume, Tricia can be seen on the big screen in films such as NBC’s BEHIND THE CAMERA: THE UNAUTHORIZED STORY OF CHARLIE’S ANGELS, playing Farrah Fawcett; in MEMORY opposite Dennis Hopper and Billy Zane; A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO ENDINGS with Harvey Keitel, Scott Caan, and JK Simmons; and AUTHORS ANONYMOUS with Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting. Tricia has also done prolific voiceover work in mega-hit video game franchises, playing Commander Veronica Dare in Halo: ODST, EDI in Mass Effect 2 and 3, and Sarah Kerrigan in Blizzard Entertainment’s StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, winning the 2010 VGA for Best Performance by a Human Female.
Tricia, a dual citizen of the US and Canada, currently resides between Los Angeles, CA and Chattahoochee Hills, GA.
