BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!The Lackawanna Historical Society is headquartered at the Catlin House which is the former residence of George H. Catlin, an early financier in the city. Designed by architect Edward Langley and built in 1912 in the stylings of the Tudor Revival, this three-story, sixteen-room residence features walnut woodwork, molded plaster ceilings, brass lighting fixtures, a three-paneled stained-glass window, and six fireplaces. The house was left to the Lackawanna Historical Society by Mr. Catlin, who was a lifetime member, in 1935 upon his passing. The Lackawanna County Historical Society received the property upon Mrs. Catlin's death in 1942.

This is an INDOOR walking tour that WILL require the use of stairs and walking throughout the building. Please ensure that proper clothing and foot attire are worn. You are encouraged, for your safety, to NOT wear the following shoes: sandals, high heels, open-toed shoes, or flip-flop type sandals.
