Join us for an inspiring evening exploring Catholic women writers of the Church and their relevance today.Discover the life and works of Ann Scott-Moncrieff, Muriel Spark, Anne Donovan, St Thérèse of Lisieux, and Immaculée Iligaziba, and consider how their writing enriches understanding of faith, imagination, and meaning today.
Co-hosted by the Universities of Edinburgh, St Andrews, and St Mary’s Twickenham, and sponsored by the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) and St Mary’s, the event is organised by Dr Linden Bicket, Dr Stephen Dolan, and Dr Rebekah Lamb Varela.
Dr Bicket and Dr Lamb-Varela will give talks drawing on their work for the first Oxford Handbook of Modern Catholic Women's Writing and their RSE-funded project: Catholic Women Writers in Scotland and Beyond.
The evening is free and open to all, with light refreshments offered to all, registration is required as spaces are limited.
Secondary school teachers will receive resources to incorporate the talks into lesson plans for RME, RMPS and English.
