About this Event

The retreat offers the opportunity to take a complete rest from the pressures of modern-day healthcare with time to reflect on the vocation to the caring professions. The beautiful, serene setting of Worth Abbey and the rhythm of Benedictine prayer-life will be conducive to quiet contemplation and the rejuvenation of spiritual life in the context of medicine, nursing and the allied professions.
The retreat will be led by Canon John O'Leary, Chaplain to the CMA and Rector of Allen Hall Seminary, along with Fr Michael Jarmulowicz, a parish priest in London as well as a former consultant histopathologist and CMA president.
Preaching will centre on the liturgical feasts and seasons coinciding with the retreat and will aim to be relevant to healthcare professionals:
Friday May 31st - The Visitation
"The significance of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary for being a missionary disciple today."
Saturday June 1st - First day of the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
"Coronary Care: Devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus"
Sunday June 2nd - Solemnity of Corpus Christi
"The Healing Power of the Eucharist"
Canon John and Fr Michael will also be available for Confession and individual spiritual direction.
There will also be plenty of free time for private prayer and the opportunity to join with the prayer of the Benedictine monks.
The retreat welcomes all healthcare students and workers whether or not CMA members.
