About this Event
Matthew brings years of experience in entomology outreach, having led programs for libraries, state parks, land trusts, and schools. This family-friendly program will begin with an interactive presentation outside, where Matthew will share practical ways to support local biodiversity in your own backyard, with a focus on native plants, caterpillars, and their vital connection to local populations. Matthew will be bringing some live insects for this presentation!
This interactive program highlights the amazing caterpillars that call Connecticut home and other parts of New England home. With kid-friendly displays, fun natural history stories, and hands-on exploration, you’ll meet everything from spiky giants to tiny twig-mimics. A perfect evening for families, nature lovers, and anyone who’s ever wondered what’s munching on the leaves. Join Matthew Nochisaki to meet countless species of native moth caterpillars, learn about their behavioral adaptations, art of deception, and their importance to the ecosystem.
