Card Merchant is thrilled to be a part of the exciting Catan organized play program here in New Zealand, providing an opportunity for Catan enthusiasts from all corners of the country to showcase their strategic prowess and compete for glory. We hope that one of our winners goes on to become the Catan World Champion for 2024!**Event Details:**
- **Store:** Card Merchant Hamilton
- **Date:** 30th of March 2024
- **Time:** 11 am
- **Entry Fee:** $20
**Tournament Structure:**
Players will engage in multiple rounds to determine the ultimate Catan champion from each store's National Qualifier tournament.
**Preliminary Round:**
- Each participant will compete in 3 separate games of the base set Catan.
- Opponents will rotate for each game.
- At the conclusion of the preliminary round, the top 16 players with the highest wins/point total will advance to the semi-finals.
**Semi-Finals:**
- The 16 qualifiers will be paired into 4 intense simultaneous semi-final games.
- Winners of each semi-final game will secure a spot in the New Zealand Catan National Championship held at Wellycon.
- These winners will also earn their seat at the finals table for their National qualifier event.
**Final Showdown:**
- The four semi-final winners will face off in an epic battle for dominance.
- The ultimate victor will not only receive a travel stipend of $100 to participate at Catan Nationals held in Wellycon but also be awarded the copy of Catan used in the final, signed by all participants and staff attending on the day!
Prizes are yet to be finalized but will be handed out amongst the top 16 along with random draw prizes!
In the case of receiving fewer than 16 players, tournament policy dictates we skip the preliminary round and move straight to the Semi-finals.
