About this Event

The Data Science Institute and Columbia Business School are partnering with Columbia Alliance (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Sciences Po, and École Polytechnique) to present a Catalyst Seminar on the topic of AI and Society. This four-part event series, one hosted by each participating institution, aims to foster research collaborations between Columbia and leading French universities.

Our program at Columbia will center on two areas that are shaping our society today: computational methods for analyzing contemporary politics and responsible AI practices. In the first session, we will dive into the use of AI-driven algorithms and machine learning techniques for analyzing political trends, voter behavior, and public opinion in an increasingly complex digital landscape. The second session will focus on the ethical challenges and frameworks surrounding AI technologies, exploring how responsible practices can be integrated into AI development to mitigate risks such as bias, inequality, and lack of transparency. Both areas are crucial as AI continues to influence discourse and the future of societal norms.

Delegates from France will attend to meet with Columbia researchers; the event will also include a networking reception to identify shared interests and find pathways for deeper collaboration.
